Cat & Dog Wellness Exams, Kent

What should I expect during my pet's physical exam?

Your pet's physical examination will allow your vet to assess his or her general health. The exam will include these elements:

General Condition

Did you know clues to your pet's overall health can be found in their physical condition and general demeanour?

Their level of alertness, how they stand and walk, and their weight are all important indicators of general health and wellbeing.

Coat & Skin

Your pet's coat and skin will be inspected for signs of problems, including dryness, excessive oiliness, bumps, lumps, abnormal hair loss, shedding or dandruff.

Face & Head

The vet will look for discharge or abnormalities in and around your pet's eyes, ears and nose.

The mouth will be examined for symptoms of oral health problems such as plaque or periodontal disease.

Internal Health

Pulse, heart rhythm, and heart rate are all vitally important to your pet's heart health.

These will be tested to ensure all is normal. The lungs will also be assessed for any evidence of abnormal breathing.

The vet will also inspect lymph nodes for swelling or pain, and the abdomen will be examined to ensure the stomach, spleen, liver, kidneys, intestines, and bladder all feel normal, and to ensure your pet is not displaying any signs of discomfort.

Puppies & Kittens

To ensure they get off to a healthy start, puppies and kittens need appropriate medical attention in their first few weeks of life.

Your new best friend will receive a complete physical examination, immunizations and deworming medication. They will also be tested for intestinal parasites. We will also give you a puppy or kitten kit full of educational material and samples to welcome the newest member of your family.

Please don't hesitate to contact us with any concerns or questions you may have about caring for your new pet, both during your appointments or in between visits.

Once your pet has had their initial appointment, you'll return periodically for his or her required booster shots

Seniors

Better nutrition, newer therapies and recent advances in veterinary medical knowledge and care have meant our senior pets are with us longer than ever.

As your pet ages, it becomes increasingly imperative to bring your pet in for regular examinations so their continuing health and longevity endures.

Along with the routine wellness procedures performed on all adult pets, special attention is given to your senior pet's potential age-related conditions, including decreased vision or arthritis. More laboratory tests will also reveal information regarding your pet's overall health.

Vaccinations & Prevention

Does your pet require preventive care, or are they due for routine vaccinations? Your vet can check these elements during your pet's regular physical exam.
